Traditional Matcha Tea

About This Project

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon Fun Earth Just Matcha green tea powder
  • Hot water (not boiling, around 175°F or 80°C)
  • Optional: sweetener (sugar, honey), milk or milk substitute
  • Optional: 1 tsp of your favorite mushroom powder

Instructions:

  • Sift the Matcha: Sift the matcha powder into your tea bowl or cup to ensure it’s smooth and free of lumps.
  • Add Hot Water: Pour a small amount of hot (but not boiling) water into the bowl or cup, covering the matcha. Use about 2 ounces (60 ml) of water.
  • Whisk: Use a bamboo whisk (chasen) or a small whisk to blend the matcha and water. Whisk in a gentle “W” or “M” motion until you achieve a smooth, frothy consistency.
  • Complete with Water: Gradually add the remaining hot water (about 6 ounces or 180 ml) to the matcha mixture and whisk until it’s well combined.
  • Sweeten or Add Milk (Optional): If you prefer, sweeten with sugar or honey and add milk or a milk substitute to taste. Stir well.
  • Enjoy: Your matcha tea is ready to sip. Savor the unique and vibrant flavors!
